1
Reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse if the dishwasher stops suddenly during a cycle and does not resume normal operation. Wait several minutes if the dishwasher has stopped due to a motor overload, then check to make nothing is blocking the front of the dishwasher that may cause problems. The dishwasher should automatically restart shortly.
-
2
Push down on the overfill protection float in the bottom right side of the dishwasher tub if there is no water coming into the KitchenAid dishwasher. The float must be able to move freely.
-
-
3
Run the hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher to warm up the water that enters the dishwasher if it seems to run too long.
-
4
Clean out the detergent dispenser with a sponge and dry it well before refilling with clean, fresh detergent if the detergent clumps or sticks in the dispenser. Avoid stopping the dishwasher in the middle of a cycle, as this may prevent proper discharge of the detergent.
-
5
Try a different detergent brand if a white residue appears on the front of the dishwasher, and use only the recommended amount.
-
6
Pour 2 cups of vinegar into the dishwasher after removing any metal items, and run a regular cycle without detergent if there is an odor in the unit or spots appear on dishes.
-
7
Use the recommended amount of detergent in the dispenser if there is food soil on dishes, and make sure the household water temperature reaches 120 degrees or more. Do not overload the dishwasher. Check to make sure items are not blocking the turning radius of the spray arms.
-
8
Run a regular wash cycle without detergent but with 3 tsp. of citric acid crystals if brown stains occur on dishes or the dishwasher interior. Remove any metal items from the dishwasher, leaving only stained dishes in the tub. Follow with another regular cycle with detergent and repeat this process every other month or as needed.
-
9
Avoid using air dry cycles if items are too wet but remember that some plastic items must be dried off after any wash and dry cycle.
