2
Avoid getting your piercing during a busy time in your life, such as a family reunion or the holidays, if you are hoping to hide a piercing. Your mouth will swell when it is pierced, and will take at least two weeks to heal.

Exchange the ring with a clear plastic retainer. The large side will be inside the mouth while the smaller end will be on the outside. They also make clear retainers that can be fastened to the tongue.
-
4
Add a dab or layer of thick foundation over the retainer for added protection. This will give the appearance of a skin flaw, rather than a piercing.
