How to Make a Group Public on Facebook

How to Make a Group Public on Facebook thumbnail
Facebook groups are free of charge to create.

Facebook groups are a way to connect with a small sector of your friends, or other users on the site who have a similar interest. Keep your group public if you want to allow any Facebook user to see your group's content and become members without administrator approval. Only a group administrator is allowed to change the privacy setting for a group; the group's creator is the first administrator, and may appoint any other member to be an administrator.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Facebook homepage and log in, if you haven't already.

    • 2

Click on the name of your group in the left column of the page. If you don't see the group you're looking for, click the "See All" link beneath the groups that do appear to expose the full list of your groups.

    • 3

Click the blue "Edit Group" button in the upper-right corner of the group's page.

    • 4

Click the gray icon in the "Privacy" section and choose "Open" from the menu.

    • 5

Scroll down and click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the screen.
