How to Join Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 3
"Fallout 3" is an role-playing game set in 2277 following apocalyptic energy wars that reduced the world to a veritable wasteland. Little in the world resembles the turn of the 21st century as even the U.S. military is reduced to a quasi-cult called the Brotherhood of Steel. Being primarily a force of good in the world, it draws the attention of the game's protagonist and eventually welcomes him into its ranks.

Acquire the objective, "Team up with the Brotherhood of Steel" by speaking with Mortiary in the small town of Megaton.

Begin walking toward the marker on your compass at the bottom of your interface. You can also pause the game, scroll to the "Data" tab, and locate the marker on the map. The marker leads you to the Capital Wasteland, the area in and around former Wastington, D.C.

Approach the mark indicated by the marker, where you will encounter a gang of Super Mutants as well as members of the Brotherhood of Steel, who will help protect you against the mutants.

Speak with Sentinel Lyons and follow her group back to the Citadel, the headquarters of the brotherhood. Along the way you will encounter more mutants that the sentinels will dispatch.

Talk with Three Dog inside the headquarters, formerly the United States Department of Defense known as the Pentagon. He will welcome you into the Brotherhood of Steel, and give you your first task to complete as a brother.

Tips & Warnings
You don't have to complete the task given to you by Three Dog. In fact, if you wait until later in the game, he will offer greater rewards to complete it.
Killing a member of the Brotherhood of Steel will cause other members to become hostile toward you.
