How to Tie Beads on T-Shirts
When you tire of the generic appearance of your T-shirt, give it a different look with beads. You can attach the beads with needle and thread or glue, but tying takes less time and requires fewer supplies. Tie the beads to fringes on the sleeves or bottom of the T-shirt for a 1970s hippie look or create your own design by tying them to other parts of the shirt. You'll need a cutting tool and beads with holes large enough for the strips of fabric.
Things You'll Need

1
Cut the finished edge off the sleeves and the bottom of the T-shirt using scissors or a roller cutter.
-
2
Measure the width and length of the strips you want for the fringes on the sleeves and bottom of the T-shirt. Draw the strips on the shirt with tailor's chalk or a fabric marker. You can cut the strips on the sleeves halfway up or as high as the armhole.

3
Cut vertical strips as long as you want them to be. Pull the end of each strip if you want to stretch it and make the edges roll into a tube.
-
4
Determine the number of beads you want on each strip. You can create a pattern using beads in different colors.
-
5
Wrap the end of each strip of the T-shirt with a small piece of masking tape. The tape makes the fabric firm enough to pass through the beads.
-
6
Thread a strip through the number of beads you want to string. Remove the masking tape. Tie two knots at the end of the strip to secure the beads. Repeat the process for the remaining strips.
