How to Make Adhesive Stick

Adhesives can be used for all sorts of projects.

Many home improvement projects require the use of an adhesive. From a woodwork project to tiling your bathroom to simple crafts with the kids, the surfaces you're working with can be secured to one another by using the appropriate type of adhesive. There many adhesive types, so be sure to follow the specific manufacturer's instructions to get the adhesive to stick. You can also follow a few steps to help the adhesive work better.

Instructions

1. Read the label on the adhesive carefully. Not all adhesives will bind all surfaces. Make sure the one you choose will bind with each surface you plan to secure with the adhesive.

2. Take temperature recommendations seriously. The adhesive label should state which temperature range it's best to use it in. If you follow these guidelines, your adhesive will be more likely to stick.

3. Clean any dust or debris from both surfaces before using the adhesive. Debris can prevent the adhesive from sticking.

4. Wait for the surfaces to dry before attempting to use the adhesive. Most won't stick to a wet surface.

5. Apply the adhesive to both surfaces you're securing with it. This will help ensure that the adhesive will stick.
