How to Finish a Friendship Bracelet Using a Toggle
Traditionally, friendship bracelets, handmade bracelets woven from embroidery floss, are finished by tying around the wrist with the excess floss at the ends. This method of closure doesn't allow the wearer to remove the bracelet easily. It must either be untied or cut. Toggle clasps, used by inserting a "T" shaped rod through a circular loop, are an effective way to finish a friendship bracelet so it can be taken off and on with ease.

1
Thread one end of the bracelet's floss through the loop attached to the circular end of the toggle clasp. The clasp will have a circular or oval end and a "T" shaped rod end. Both ends have an attached loop to secure the clasp to the jewelry.
-
2
Tie a knot in the floss to secure it around the loop. A double, overhand knot will work fine for this. Pull tightly on the end of the clasp and the floss to ensure the knot will stay once the excess thread is cut.

Thread the other end of the bracelet's floss through the loop attached to the "T" shaped end of the toggle clasp. Tie a double, overhand knot. Pull tightly on the end of the clasp and the floss to ensure the knot will stay once the excess thread is cut.

4
Cut the excess floss from the ends of the clasp so that there is no more than a ¼ -inch showing. Don't cut it too close, or the end may slip back through the knot and come untied.

5
Insert the "T" shaped rod into the circular loop and turn it to secure the clasp. The rod will sit with the ends on the edge of the circular loop to close the clasp.
