How to Remove Smart Tags in Word

If you type a name, phone number, date, address, or stock symbol in Microsoft Word, a dotted purple line will appear underneath. These are called smart tags, and they help you save time by allowing you to perform actions in other programs without opening those programs. For instance, if you type a phone number, the smart tag will give you the option to automatically save the number in your contacts in Microsoft Outlook. If you do not want to use smart tags, you can disable the feature, removing them from the current document and all future documents.
