    • 2

Place the knife across the sandwich diagonally and cut through from corner to corner.

    • 3

Place the knife diagonally in the opposite direction, corner to corner, and cut through. The sandwich is now in four small triangle shapes.

Place the sandwich on the cutting board.

    • 5

Cut the sandwich in half crosswise.

    • 6

Cut each half in half lengthwise. This creates four square sandwich portions.

    Stick Quarters

    • 7

Place the sandwich on the cutting board.

    • 8

Cut the sandwich in half, either lengthwise or crosswise.

    • 9

Cut each half in the same direction again, making four long cuts.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you only cut the sandwiches in half it will leave larger portions that are too big for finger sandwiches.

  • You can also cut small shapes from whole sandwiches with sharp cookie cutters or biscuit cutters but this will leave excess trimmings and a bit of waste.

  • When cutting the peanut butter and jelly sandwich into four sticks it is best to use a sturdy bread that stands up well on its own. The two middle cuts of the stick cuts will get soggy with soft, white sandwich bread. Try slices of hearty, whole-grain artisan breads.
