How to Locate Something US-Wide on Craigslist

Craigslist is a website that makes it easy to search for items for sale and other classifieds in your local area. You can often find things that aren't available in stores that private owners are selling. Craigslist becomes less valuable if you are looking for something you are willing to travel for or have shipped, as there is no easy way to search nationwide listings using the Craigslist site. However, there are sites that use custom searches to index results from all the local Craigslist sites and compile them for you. These sites are where you'll need to go for a nationwide search.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch a Web browser and visit one of the following sites: SearchAllCraigs.com, AllofCraigs.com or AllofCraigslist.org.

    • 2

Enter the item you are looking for in the search bar. Be specific with your search query, there are a lot of listings and you'll only want to see those pertaining to your specific item. For example, rather than searching for "Atari," search for "Atari 2600 with games."

    • 3

Click "Search" to view all of the nationwide Craigslist listings for your search term. Click a search result to view the related page.

Tips & Warnings

  • AllofCraigs.com has a drop-down list in their search bar that allows you to do regional searches as well as a nationwide search.

  • AllofCraigslist.org has links at the top of the page that allows you to select a category. If you are looking for an item for sale, click "For Sale" to limit your search.

  • Use caution when purchasing a Craigslist item without going in person to pick it up. Most sellers will be unwilling to ship before you send payment and unfortunately, once you have, they still may just keep your money.
