How to Retweet to Get Followers

Retweet others' tweets regularly as a mean of gaining followers on Twitter. When you retweet someone's tweet, Twitter notifies him that you've mentioned his name. If he publicly replies to you, your Twitter name appears in a message he sends out to his entire network, exposing it to all his followers. The more people who see your Twitter name, the more likely you are to gain followers, so retweet often and with priority for users who already have a lot of followers.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to Twitter and scroll through your Twitter feed. Hover your mouse under any tweet you feel deserves retweeting, then click the "Retweet" icon.

    • 2

Input a personalized message to supplement the tweet or use it as is. Click the "Retweet" button.

    • 3

Choose the "@mentions" button to check if users whose tweets you retweet mention you. When this happens, each sends out a message that contains your Twitter name and a link to your profile to his entire network.

Retweet regularly to maximize the number of followers you gain from retweeting. Although it isn't possible to predict how many each followers each retweet gets you -- some don't get you any at all -- frequent retweets over time increases your chances.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click the name of any user to view his profile, which includes how many followers he has. Prioritize retweets messages users with large numbers of followers send out, who exposes your Twitter name to the largest numbers of people if they mention you to thank you.
