How to Make a Cute Toga for Women

How to Make a Cute Toga for Women thumbnail
Transform yourself into a Greek goddess with a cute toga.

Step away from the standard floor-length toga and shorten it to make it look cuter. Togas are worn to resemble Greek gods and goddesses for toga parties or on Halloween. Creating the look is simple and inexpensive as long as you have a white sheet lying around your home. Short togas are made by folding the sheet in half, yet wrapping it the same as you would a long toga. In addition, coordinating accessories such as oversized leaves, gold strands and rope belts add to the toga costume.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the sheet on a flat surface and fold it in half. Hold the sheet up to you to judge where it will hit when it is wrapped around you. The toga should hit at your knee area; therefore, make any adjustments in length before you begin to wrap.

    • 2

Grab the corner of the sheet with your left hand. Slide the hand downward 6 inches so your hand is 6 inches from the corner. This additional fabric will be used to tie the toga together at the end of wrapping.

    • 3

Drape the sheet across the front of your body and under your right armpit. You will keep the additional fabric in your left hand throughout the entire wrapping process; however, you may need to use your left hand to maneuver the fabric around your body. Do not release the corner during the wrapping process.

    • 4

Wrap the sheet around the back of your body and under the left armpit. Pull the sheet tight and make any adjustments before you tie. Make sure the sheet covers the bust area appropriately before continuing.

    • 5

Pull the sheet back around the front of your body and over to your right shoulder. At this point all that will remain of the sheet is the end. Pull your left hand around the back of your head, with the additional 6 inches of fabric, and tie to the corner of the loose end. This will secure the fabric so it stays on your body. Make any adjustments.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a brooch to the knot where you tied the two corners to cover the knot.

  • Style your feet with gladiator sandals.

  • Wear white or nude-colored undergarments under the toga.
