How to Decorate a Modern Condo

Modern design appeals to individuals who like a stylish and uncluttered setting and high-end technology. With a modern design, a space can appear larger, so it is appropriate for a small space such as a typical condominium. A space comes to life when the design elements, such as artwork or wall color, complement each other. 1. Paint the walls a color palette of black, white or neutrals such as gray, taupe or tan. For added interest, paint a contrast wall with primary colors such as red, blue or yellow. Choose glossy flooring material that can be as inexpensive as laminate to more expensive choices like hardwood or higher-end material like marble.

2. Choose window treatments that provide privacy and let some light in to brighten the rooms. Select simple wall treatments such as roman shades, screens made of textured, organic material or curtains without frills or floral pattern.

3. Select smaller-scaled furniture with sleek lines and simple geometric shapes such as modular or tubular metal furniture. The furniture can be black, white or a neutral color to complement the wall color. Arrange them symmetrically to visually maintain a simple pattern in the room. In the bedroom, use over-sized headboards with simple lines, or select a platform bedroom set.

   Eliminate any ornate accessories that make a room look cluttered. Add a few modern objects, or use no accessories at all. Place the accessories appropriately to highlight or set the theme in a room.
