How to Change the Resolution on a Presario MV520

The Compaq MV520 is a CRT monitor that came packaged with several models of Presario desktop computers. To change the resolution on the monitor, you simply need to change the resolution inside Windows. The monitor will sense the new resolution and adjust the screen settings automatically. The MV520 is a 15-inch monitor with a maximum resolution of 1024-by-768 pixels.

      Right-click on a blank area on your Windows desktop.

      Click "Screen resolution" to open the Screen Resolution window.

      Select the new resolution under the "Resolution" drop-down box.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can't see the screen after you click "Apply," don't do anything. The screen will automatically revert to the old settings after 15 seconds.
  • If you get an "Out of Frequency Range" error, try adjusting the refresh rate in the display settings. Click "Advanced settings" in the Screen Resolution window and click the "Monitor" tab. Change the "Screen refresh rate" drop-down, and click "OK."
