How to Access the Purge Valve in a Thunderbird
The purge valve on a Ford Thunderbird is a component that is used as part of the car's emissions control system. The valve is connected to the Thunderbird's charcoal canister via a rubber hose. Escaping fuel emissions enter the canister, which is monitored by the vehicle's Power Control monitor through a sensor. When the canister becomes pressurized the valve opens to release the treated emissions. The purge valve is located near the passenger firewall.
