A plus-size model exudes beauty and confidence.

If you are interested in starting a modeling career, you don't necessarily have to be a size zero. Nowadays, many modeling agencies are looking for healthy, attractive, plus-size women to model clothing, swimwear, lingerie, shoes and jewelry. Many clothing lines are designed for plus-sized women. You may appear in print ads like magazines or store catalogs, or you might walk the runway at shows for the fashion designers.

Instructions

    • 1

Maintain healthy skin, hair and nails by taking a daily multi-vitamin, drinking plenty of water and eating healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Your skin will glow with the proper nutrients and your hair will be more shiny and manageable.

    • 2

Be confident with yourself and your body as this will show through in your pictures. Whether you are posing for a magazine ad or walking the runway, let your self confidence and self assurance show through by having a tall and straight posture with your head held high and shoulders back.

    • 3

Take a modeling class to learn the proper way to walk down the runway, pose for photographs and approach modeling agencies to better prepare yourself for a modeling career.

    • 4

Find a reputable modeling agency and inquire about the possibility of accepting plus-size female models for clothing, shoes, lingerie and accessories. Do your research and be sure you are able to follow the guidelines set forth by the agencies you have chosen. They may have minimum height and weight restrictions such as 5 feet 8 inches tall and size 10 and up. While some accept size 10, others may look for size 14 and up.

Have a professional modeling photographer take a variety of shots featuring you in lingerie, swimwear and clothing items to prepare your portfolio. Send your portfolio images to each modeling agency you are interested in.
