How to Dissolve Gummy Bears in Boiling Water
Gummy bears are a rubbery, gelatin-based candy that has been enjoyed for decades. You dissolve gummy bears over boiling water, not directly in the water. Melted gummy bears can be used in art to create a transparent effect with different colors. You can also melt gummy bears and use them with molds to create shapes. Try making mini glasses (use a shot glass mold) and eat the cup after enjoying the drink! Melting gummy bears is a tricky task and should be done with caution, as the candy gets hot. Bring water to a boil in the bottom part of a double boiler. If you don't have a double boiler, use a saucepot for the water and a heat-resistant bowl that you will place on top of the pot.

Place gummy bears in the top of the double boiler or the heat-resistant bowl once the water is boiling.

Turn the heat to medium-high and place the gummy bear bowl over the boiling water.

Melt the gummy bears over the water. You may need to stir the bears a couple of times while they are dissolving. The bears should take approximately five minutes to melt, but may take a few minutes longer.

Use the melted gummy bears as desired.

Tips & Warnings
Use just one color of gummy bear to create a single color for your mold or dessert.
Gummy bears are very hot when melted and the pot used will be hot as well. Use oven mitts to handle the pot and be very cautious when working with melted gummy bears.
