How to Justify Text in PageMaker

How to Justify Text in PageMaker thumbnail
You can change how text is presented in PageMaker.

If you are working on a document on your computer with PageMaker, you might want to justify text. PageMaker is a desktop publishing application that you use to develop documents such as magazines, newspapers, newsletters and books. The Adobe software company no longer develops PageMaker, but still sells the application on its website. Justifying text causes the words to be flush left and right in a text column so the text appears like a block instead of having an uneven right or left edge. You can easily justify text in PageMaker.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch PageMaker on your computer, and open a document in which you want to justify text.

    • 2

Click the text that you want to justify, to select it.

    • 3

Click "Type" at the top of the PageMaker application window, then click "Paragraph." The Paragraph Specifications dialog box appears.

    • 4

Click "Justify" under "Alignment," and click "OK."

    • 5

Click "Text" at the top of the PageMaker window, then click "Hyphenation." The Hyphenation dialog box appears. Click the "Hyphenation" option to "On." Use hyphenation when you are justifying text, to reduce the number of loose lines. Otherwise, you may see a lot of white space in a justified line, caused by pushing an unhyphenated word to the line below. Click "OK."
