How Do I Transfer My Firefox Settings to a New Account?

Mozilla Firefox stores your settings, bookmarks, browsing history, extensions and other personal information in a Firefox profile directory. Each user account on the computer has its own Firefox profile directory with its own Firefox settings. If you're switching to a new Windows user account, you can copy your Firefox profile to transfer your complete Firefox setup, including your settings. You can also copy the profile directory to another computer to transfer your Firefox settings between computers.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the Alt key in Firefox to view the menu if it's hidden. Click the "Help" menu and select "Troubleshooting Information."

    • 2

Click the "Open Containing Folder" button to the right of "Profile Directory" on the Troubleshooting Information page.

    • 3

      Close all open Firefox windows.
