How to Cut a Bully Stick in Half

How to Cut a Bully Stick in Half thumbnail
Make two bully sticks out of one by cutting it with hedge clippers.

You can cut a bully stick in half if your dog isn't able to eat it in one sitting. Bully sticks are dog chews made from bull pizzles, or reproductive organs. They're not only treats for dogs but also clean their teeth. Some breeds may take days to eat a bully stick, so cutting them in half allows dogs to finish them in less time.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the bully stick on a table or other flat surface. Pieces of the stick may fly when cut, so make sure no children or fragile objects are nearby.

    • 2

Estimate the middle mark of the bully stick. Sticks are sold in 6-inch or 12-inch varieties.

    • 3

Place the bully stick between the blades of the hedge trimmer at the middle mark and push the trimmer's handles together until the stick breaks. It will be cut into two equal parts.

Tips & Warnings

  • Handheld garden shears may bend if you try to use them to cut a bully stick.
