How to Start a Crazy Quilt
A crazy quilt -- a colorful, patchwork quilt made of assorted fabrics, trims and embroidery -- is constructed block by block. No batting is required, merely a backing fabric. The pieced blocks are made one by one and then sewn together to form a quilt top which is then attached to a backing. Starting a crazy quilt is an easy task requiring a few simple elements and a little bit of time. Piecing the crazy patchwork can be done by hand or machine.

Return to the first piece of fabric scrap; turn the raw edges under, iron and pin it in place again.

5
Repeat Step 4, turning the edges under, ironing and pinning each fabric scrap until every piece is pinned down.
-
6
Sew the fabric scraps together and to the foundation fabric. Add embroidery (such as chain stitch, buttonhole stitch, and fern stitch) to the seams. Attach embellishments as desired.
