But there are many ways to spice up your boring and plain turtleneck to look chic and stylish. With a few accessories and some items in your closet, you can turn this average top into a trend-setting look.

1. Wear a turtleneck with a lighter fabric in bright and bold colors to draw more attention. Use accessories such as a thin leather belt to cinch at the waist. Layer with long necklaces with interesting pendants that can help draw attention. Wear a short, fitted vest over the turtleneck; the vest will help to cinch in the waist and give your body shape.

2. Place a turtleneck under a dress or blazer for a chic and professional look. Pair with long, wide-legged pants or a pencil skirt and high-heel shoes or knee high boots. When wearing under a dress, try dark-colored, opaque tights underneath, or tights with a fun design such as diamond weave, lace and small-hole fishnet.
