How to Deactivate Dreamweaver CS5

The license for Adobe Creative Suite programs like Dreamweaver CS5 allows you to install it on two computers concurrently, but restricts use of the program to one computer at a time. This restriction is monitored through the mandatory activation that's required to run the software after you install it. If you need to re-install Dreamweaver because of a hard drive failure or because you've purchased a new computer, you should de-activate the software before you re-install and re-activate it.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Dreamweaver CS5 while your computer is connected to the Internet.

    • 2

Click "Help," and then "Deactivate." Click the "Erase My Serial Number From This Computer After Deactivation Completes" check box.

    • 3

Click "Deactivate." You can un-install the program and re-install it on another computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you un-install Dreamweaver CS5, it does not automatically de-activate the software on that computer. You must manually de-activate it to re-install on another computer.

  • If you get a pop-up window that says "The Serial Number Has Been Activated Too Many Times" when re-installing Dreamweaver CS5, contact Adobe Support to have your activations reset. You will need your serial number to reset the activations.
