How to Make a Friendship Bracelet at Home
Friendship bracelets are items of jewelry that are made from braided, plaited or knotted strands of a flexible cord. Store-bought friendship bracelets can be costly, but you can create your own bracelet at home for a fraction of the price. You can use four different colored strands of embroidery floss to create a bracelet that reflects your individuality and personal style. All the materials required to make friendship bracelets can be purchased from craft stores or online retailers.

1
Cut four strands of embroidery floss, each 25 inches long.
-
2
Align the tops of the strands and tie them together in a single knot. Lay the top of the strands flat onto your work space. Place a pile of heavy books over the knot. The books will temporarily hold the strands in place and make them easier to work with.

Separate the four strands so that they are each parallel to one another. Pick up the strand that is on the far left side and tie it in a double knot around the strand to the right of it. Tie the same strand in a double knot around each of the remaining strands to the right of it. Pick up the strand that is now on the far left side and continue this process until you have knotted the desired length of bracelet. If you are using different colored strands, this will create a diagonal striped pattern on the bracelet.

Tie a single knot around the bottom of the bracelet. Trim off any excess embroidery floss with the scissors, but remember to leave enough loose strands so that you can tie the bracelet comfortably around you wrist. Remove the pile of books from the top of the bracelet.
