Threader floss comes in a variety of colors.

Friendship bracelets are items of jewelry that are worn around the wrists. Threader floss, also known as embroidery floss, is a thin flexible cord made from smaller strands of cotton or rayon. You can create a cool friendship bracelet for a guy by knotting together four pieces of embroidery floss. You can use colored threads to create a friendship bracelet that reflects the personal taste and individual style of the guy for whom you are making it. All the materials required to make friendship bracelets can be purchased from craft stores or online retailers.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut four pieces of embroidery floss, two strands of each color, that are each 25 inches long.

    • 2

Align the tops of the strands. Tie a single knot approximately two inches below the top of the strands. Cut a small strip of duct tape and use it to adhere the knot and top of the strands to your work space.

    • 3

Separate the four strands so they are positioned vertically parallel to one another. Pick up the strand on the far left and tie it in a double knot, just below the top knot, around the strand to the right. Continue to tie the same strand, individually, in a double knot around the remaining strands to the right. Pick up the strand now on the far left, and tie it in a double knot around each of the remaining strands to the right. This will create an alternating diagonal stripe pattern on the bracelet. Repeat until you have knotted the desired length of bracelet.

Tie a single knot in the bottom of the bracelet. Trim off any excess strands, but leave enough loose so that you can comfortably tie the bracelet around your wrist. Remove the duct tape from the top of the bracelet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of duct tape, you can use a pile of heavy books to temporarily hold the strands in place while you are knotting them.

  • You can further customize your bracelet by threading wooden beads onto the strands.

  • Scissors should only be used under the supervision of an adult.

  • Do not stick duct tape onto antiqued or painted surfaces.
