How to Convert Floppy to .Img
You can archive the files contained in your floppy disks by saving them into an .IMG file. Most manufacturers do not produce floppy drives anymore and saving those files on your hard drive ensures that you will always be able to access them. The .IMG file format is a format for image files, or archive files, into which you can store documents, pictures and various other files. You can save files that are on floppy drives as an .IMG archive file by using a a freely available program.

Visit the download page for ImgBurn (see Resources) and click on the "Download" link to start downloading the program's installer. When your browser has finished downloading the file, double-click on it and follow the instructions to install the program onto your computer.

Open ImgBurn by clicking on its shortcut in the Windows Start menu.

Click on "Create an image file from files/folders."

Click on the "+" button and locate your floppy drive by using the file browser. Select all the files you want to save as the .IMG archive by clicking and dragging your mouse. When you have selected all the files, click on the "Open" button.

Click on the "Save" icon at the bottom of the window, select ".IMG" in the file type menu and give a meaningful name to the archive.
