If you have a painting business, then you will need to invoice your clients. To do this, you can create an invoice using a pre-designed template through your word processing program, such as Microsoft Word. You also can use free invoices online as a model for typing up your own custom bill for your clients. Save the bill file on your desktop for easy access to tweak it for individual clients.

      Open a new document in your word processing program.

      Scroll down to the "Invoices" category. Double-click it.

      Select an invoice form by double-clicking it. The invoice will download into your word processing program.

      Highlight the filler text and replace it with your own. You will need to type your name, business name, address and contact information on the left top corner. Just below this information, type the client's name, home address and contact information. Type the invoice number and the date below the client's information, but put that on the flush right side of the invoice. Press "Enter" three times and type the description of the service, the price owed and the date the bill is due across the length of the page.
