If the keyless entry remote for your 2006 Hyundai Sonata loses its programming or you buy a new remote, you can program it at home in minutes. Programming the remote at home can save you a substantial charge from the dealership to replace and program the remote. You can buy a new keyless entry remote from auto parts retailers or direct from the dealer.

Step 1

Locate the control module for the alarm system, just below the fuse panel on the driver side interior panel. Open the cover to the control module by popping the cover off. Flip the memory switch to the "OFF" position.

Step 2

Turn the ignition key of your 2006 Sonata to the "ON" position. Wait one minute, then flip the memory switch to the "SET" position.

Step 3

Press and hold the lock button on the keyless entry remote for one minute to transmit the code to the control module. Turn the memory switch to the "OFF" position and test the keyless entry remote to confirm that it has been programmed.
