How to Make an Astronaut Helmet From Paper
Whether you're looking for a creative, easy to construct Halloween costume, or you want to keep your space-obsessed little one occupied with a craft project that she can use for dress up, consider creating a paper astronaut helmet. With scissors and some paint, you can transform a brown paper bag into simple helmet that can be worn while pretending to blast off into space.
Things You'll Need
- Two brown paper bags
- Scissors
- White paint
- American flag stickers
- Black paint

1
Open up one brown paper bag. Insert the second brown paper bag into the first bag and open it up. The paper bags will serve as the base of the astronaut helmet and doubling up the bags will make the helmet sturdier.
-
2
Close the bags and lay them on a flat surface. Cut off the bottom 6 inches of the paper bags and open the bags again.
-
-
3
Paint the entire outer surface of the outer paper bag white, including the flat bottom portion of the bag. Allow the paint to completely dry.
-
4
Cut out a square that is 5 inches high and 7 inches wide on the front of the paper bag. The square opening will serve as the window that the costume wearer's face will peer through.
-
5
Apply American flag stickers on either side of the brown paper bag.
-
6
Print the initials U.S.A. on the top of the paper bag above the square opening with black paint.
