Make a dream come true for your little boy or girl by decorating their bedroom according to their favorite fairy tale, book, or movie. Create an Alice in Wonderland room, for example, or a Harry Potter room. Other options include Mickey Mouse "Fantasia" decor, a fairy themed room or a Winnie the Pooh room. Choose wall stickers, bedding and curtains that complement the theme.

2
Hire an artist to paint a mural on one or more walls in a room to create a special place and add atmosphere. Picture a tropical beach scene, a charming English garden, the sky, a jungle, a lighthouse on a lake, or the French countryside. Add furniture and accessories to coordinate with your mural theme such as a hammock in a beach themed room.

Create an exotic room such as a Moroccan themed room. Choose colorful tiles, unique plasterwork on walls, Moroccan paintings, pottery, rugs, woven bedspreads and ornately carved pieces of furniture. Opt for colors such as sea blue, turquoise, reds, purples, yellows, golds and greens. Consider luxurious materials such as embroidered silk brocades, wools and velvets for bedspreads, pillows and throws.

Develop a magical atmosphere reminiscent of the interior of the Soho Mondrian Hotel located in New York City. Bejaming Noriega-Ortiz designed the interior using a lot of blue shades creating a romantic, fairy-tale experience. Large floral stencil-like designs adorn the ceilings and area rugs. Tufted high back chairs with matching round foot stools are combined with metal pieces such as chairs and sculptures.

Create a literal magic-themed room. Use posters of famous magicians on the walls such as David Copperfield. Add an old trunk and other items related to performing magic such as a top hat, scarves and wands. Decorate furniture pieces with decks of cards. Use podgy glue or clear sealant to affix playing cards to the top of a desk or coffee table.

Tips & Warnings
Ask yourself what is magical to you or where your dream vacation would be. If you like exploring caverns, for example, paint your wails to look like a cave. If you enjoy space travel, make your room look like you are in outer space or inside an actual rocket.
When you rent your home or apartment, be sure to consult with your landlord for his approval if you plan to make any significant changes to the unit. If you own your home, be aware that it may be more difficult to sell your house if you have extraordinarily designed rooms.
