How to Do Multiple City Ads on Craigslist

Place multiple city ads on Craigslist to advertise a product or service you offer in several different markets. Although Craigslist is designed as a tool to help local people connect with each other, it's possible for someone living in one place to post to any Craigslist. Avoid posting ads that are duplicated word-for-word, even if you advertise the exact same product and service, as Craigslist removes these; repeated violations may result in account suspension.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "My Account," input your email address and password and choose "Sign In." If you don't yet have an account, choose "Sign Up For An Account." Type in your email address and the verification words that display and choose "Create An Account." Craigslist accounts aren't necessary for most postings, but they eliminate the step of email verification when you post each ad.

    • 2

Choose "Post to Classifieds" from the Craigslist homepage. Select a category and subcategory for the ad, then give it a creative title and description. Optionally, provide your geographical location, a price if you're selling a product or service and upload up to four pictures to accompany the ad. Choose "Continue" to preview the ad, and then click "Continue" once again to publish it live on the site.

    • 3

Return to the Craigslist homepage and hover the mouse over the right side of the screen. Click "U.S. Cities" to see a list of all Craigslist cities in the United States or "CL Worldwide" to view a list of foreign countries, from which you can choose cities. Navigate to the Craigslist homepage of the city to which you want to post and follow the same process for posting.

Tips & Warnings

  • Note that some cities charge fees for certain types of ads, while others don't. Posting a job ad in St. Louis, for example, is free as of July 2011, while it costs $25 per day in Austin.
