Sewing saves a family from spending money on fixing clothes.

The Baby Lock Companion 2400 is an older sewing machine that is no longer manufactured. Older machines are still useful if they are well maintained and cared for. Threading this machine is a simple procedure of guiding the thread through essential check points to ensure the proper feed into the needle. The spool pin on the Companion 2400 is on the back in a horizontal position unlike modern sewing machines where the pin sits vertically on top of the machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the spool of thread on the horizontal spool pin on the back right of the machine. Cover the pin with the cap.

    • 2

Raise the presser foot by pushing the lever in the back of the needle shaft. Turn the wheel toward you to raise the needle to the highest position possible.

    • 3

Pull the thread through the guidepost on the top middle of the machine and around the guidepost cover.

    • 4

Pull the thread down through the feed slot and in between the tension discs.

    • 5

Pull the thread up the slot into the take-up lever and back down through the guidepost on the front of the needle shaft.

    • 6

Run the thread through the front of the needle and pull it until there are three inches of feed hanging down from the needle.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the spool is not capped, it will come off the spool pin.

  • Unplug the machine or turn the power supply off before working around the needle to avoid accidental injury.
