How to Get Chatot in "Pokémon Pearl"

In the "Pokemon" series of video games, Chatot is a Pokemon that resembles a parrot. It has the tendency to mimic sounds, which allows it to repeat human words. In battle, Chatot utilizes vocal attacks such as "Sing," "Chatter," "Uproar" and "Hyper Voice." In addition, as a Flying- and Normal-type Pokemon, it is resistant to Bug- and Grass-type attacks. It is also immune to Ground- and Ghost-type moves. To obtain Chatot in "Pokemon Pearl," you must visit Route 222 during the morning or during the day.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the game's internal clock. You can only capture Chatot during daylight hours, so if it is not morning or day, wait for nighttime to pass.

    • 2

Fly to Sunyshore City in southeast Sinnoh. If you haven't visited Sunyshore City yet, you'll be able to reach the area after you've collected seven out of the eight Gym Badges.

    • 3

Travel west onto Route 222 and explore patches of tall grass until you encounter a wild Chatot. Chatot's appearance rate during the day is 20 percent. Chatot will be around Level 40.

    • 4

Weaken the wild Chatot with attacks. Attacks that cause minor damage (such as "Tackle") or status impairments like "Thunderwave" will work best. "False Swipe," which leaves the opponent with one health point, is also a good attack for capturing wild Pokemon. Rock-, Electric- or Ice-type attacks may cause Chatot to faint before you can capture it, so avoid using these.

    • 5

Throw a PokeBall to capture the wild Chatot once it is sufficiently weakened.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also find wild Chatot that are around Level 50 on Route 224 during the day. To reach this route, enter Victory Cave in eastern Sinnoh and exit the cave through the eastern doorway.

  • Wild Chatot have a 5 percent chance of holding the Metronome item. This item increases the power of an attack if that attack is used consecutively during a battle.
