How to Troubleshoot a Comcast IP Address
Comcast high-speed Internet service supports the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). This protocol automatically assigns IP addresses to devices that connect to a network; thus, DHCP eliminates the need for you to manually configure the IP address on your computer to access Comcast's network. If your computer is having a problem connecting to the network, it may be experiencing an IP address conflict. This occurs when two computers on the network are accidentally assigned the same IP address. Solving this problem requires that you disable and re-enable the connection to your Comcast network.
