How to Render Multiple Frames in Maya
Autodesk Maya is a three-dimensional rendering program used to create complex and detailed virtual models. These can then be animated to make films, video games or other effects. In order for Maya to render a series of still frame shots instead of one single snapshot, a series of commands must be given to direct precisely how it will capture those images.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open the "Window" drop-down menu at the top of the window. Hover your mouse cursor over "Rendering Editors," then select the "Render Globals" command that appears.
-
2
Click the "Common" tab at the top of the window that appears.
-
-
3
Click the small button to expand the "Image File Output" sub-menu.
-
4
Click a file naming convention from the "Frame/Animation Ext" drop-down that includes a number or pound sign.
-
5
Click the format the render should be created as in the next drop-down menu in the list. By default, Maya uses the proprietary "IFF" format, so you should change this if you intend to import the render into other software.
-
6
Enter a number in the "By Frame" field to specify how often Maya should render frames. For example, entering "1" in this field will cause it to render all frames, while "2" denotes every other frame.
-
7
Enter a number no less than "3" in the next field, "Frame Padding." This sets the number of digits Maya will use when numbering the individual frames and will prevent confusion later.
-
8
Click your desired camera angle from the "Camera" drop-down menu.
-
9
Collapse the "Image File Output" sub-menu and expand the next one, "Resolution."
-
10
Set the desired resolution in either the drop-down menu of preset resolutions or enter values for the pixel width and height in the corresponding fields.
-
11
Click "OK" and close the window.
-
12
Open the "Render" drop-down menu at the top of the screen and select "Batch Render."
