Valentine's Day is special for kids and you can help them celebrate it with heartfelt and healthy lunch recipes. Even if your child will be at school, you can give a Valentine's Day lunch for kids. Start the morning off with heart-shaped cereal or heart-shaped whole grain pancakes with strawberry jam. Pack your child's lunchbox with a variety of foods that will surprise them when they are eating, and don't forget to include a homemade Valentine's Day card inside the lunchbox.

Instructions

      Mix together 1/4 cup heart cereal, 1/4 cup nuts, 1/4 cup dried cranberries and 1/4 cup red chocolate candies in a bowl for a Valentine's Day trail mix. Since it is a special day, you can include chocolate in their lunch. Place the trail mix in a zip plastic bag and then into your child's lunchbox.

      Place one slice of cheese and one slice of deli meat between two slices of bread for a sandwich, or use any favorite sandwich recipe. Press a heart out of the sandwich with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. Place it into a reusable sandwich wrapper or plastic bag.

      Place 2 tablespoons of strawberry cream cheese into a small plastic container for a Valentine's day special. Include baby carrots and cut up celery for dipping.

      Mix together 1/4 cup chopped strawberries with 1/2 cup applesauce for a special red applesauce. Put it into a small plastic container and then into your child's lunchbox with a spoon.

      Glue a paper heart doily onto a piece of 4-by-6-inch piece of red construction paper. After ti dries, write a special message to your child. Don't let him see it and place it into his lunchbox before school.
