How to Dehydrate Corn Tortillas
Dehydrated corn tortillas are made using a dehydrator machine. The boxed-shaped machine, which measures approximately 12 inches high and 17 inches wide, sits on a countertop or table. The door at the front of the machine is removed to reveal stackable, non-stick trays lined with parchment paper-like dehydrator drying sheets. When in use, the dehydrator produces about 400 to 600 watts of heat, which removes the food's moisture. Besides corn, the dehydrator dries such foods as apricots, apples, pineapples, garlic, nuts and beef for beef jerky. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lay a clean dish towel inside a medium mixing bowl.

2
Shuck by hand the corn's husk and silk and discard them in the trash. Remove the corn kernels from the newly exposed cob by holding the cob upright with the corn's tip touching the dish towel in the center of the medium mixing bowl. Separate the kernels from the cob by making long, downward strokes with a sharp knife. Continue using the same method for the other three cobs. Place the bowl of corn kernels aside.

Prepare the dehydrator machine by removing the front cover and pulling out one tray. Set the tray on the counter. Line the top of the tray with a dehydrator drying sheet. Place the tray aside.

4
Take the medium mixing bowl of corn and dump the kernels into the blender. Add the taco seasoning mix, water, turmeric for color and flax seed to bind the ingredients. Blend all ingredients on high speed until smooth and creamy.

5
Pour the blended batter into a large mixing bowl. Dab ¼ cup of batter on each quarter of the dehydrator drying sheet using a spatula to create four separate corn tortillas. Create an 8-inch, flat tortilla by spreading the batter with the spatula in a counterclockwise circular motion.

6
Place the tray with the corn tortillas into the dehydrator and set the timer for 6 hours and the temperature at 105 F. After the 6-hour period, remove the tray and place it on the counter. Flip the corn tortillas over with the spatula, put the tray back into the dehydrator and set the timer for 4 hours. After 4 hours, take out the tray and place it on the counter. Remove the dehydrated corn tortillas from the drying sheet with the spatula and arrange them on a serving plate.
