How to Remove the Shell Ejector From an Astra Cub
The Astra 2000 Cub is a semi-automatic handgun manufactured in Spain in the 1950s and 1960s. Though considered a low-priced pocket pistol of the era, the Cub displayed impressive workmanship and is collectible in 2011. It is chambered for .22 short ammunition, and it has a 6-round magazine capacity and a muzzle velocity of 1,045 feet per second. The overall length of the Cub is just 4-7/16 inches, and its unloaded weight is 11 oz. Removal of the extractor/ejector is part of the standard procedure for disassembling the Astra 2000 Cub.

Check to make sure that the gun is unloaded.

Press the magazine release button at the bottom of the left grip and remove the magazine.

Rotate the thumb safety on the left side of the frame into the "Safe" position.

Pull the slide all the way back, engaging the notch in the slide with the hook on the thumb safety and locking the slide in the open position.

Turn the barrel 1/4 turn clockwise, as viewed from the muzzle, and pull it forward until it stops. Turn the barrel another 1/4 turn counterclockwise and remove it from the slide.

Release the thumb safety and push the slide all the way forward and off the end of the frame.

Remove the vertical retaining pin toward the rear of the slide to release the firing pin and the firing pin spring.

Remove the retaining pin with the broad head from the underside of the slide directly behind the loading port to release the extractor/ejector and the extractor/ejector spring.
