2
Organize your group before every battle. Ensure your group has enough attacking units, such as knights, and support units, like medics. Each mission has a limit on the number of units you can use in battle, so make sure the group is effective.

3
Place your group's units in position on the map terrain. Some missions have advantages or disadvantages based on the ground terrain. Group characters close together so they can attack the same opponents and support each other when in need.
-
4
Begin the battle once your group is ready. Be sure to double-check everyone participating in the coming battle, because you cannot return to this screen without starting over the entire mission.
-
5
Clear the obejective for the mission to finish that level. Each mission will have a specific objective, to include either defeating all the opponents, protecting a computer-controlled character, or finishing another task. For example, at the Zaland Fort City, you must save Mustadio before he is defeated by the attacking army.

Tips & Warnings
As you progress through "Final Fantasy Tactics," the opponents on each mission will become more and more difficult to defeat. To help your characters survive battles, prepare them by fighting the optional battles located on the map. Winning these fights will give your characters additional experience points, raising their level. At higher levels, they will be strong enough to defeat oncoming opponents. Learn each character's special abilities. For example, Ramza will have attacks not available to other units in your group. Knowing exactly what each character can do will help you create a formidable group.
