How Can I Unlink Windows & Yahoo?
Most of the services associated with Microsoft products require you to create a Windows Live ID. This account can be created for free with any existing email address, such as a Yahoo! Mail address. The email address that you use to create your Windows Live ID address is then linked to the account and will be the recipient of any necessary email communication. If you decide to unlink a Yahoo! Mail address from your Windows Live ID, you can do so from the Windows Live Account Management Web page.

Tips & Warnings
You must always have at least one email address linked to your Windows Live ID. If the Yahoo! address is the only one associated with the account, then you can click "Change" and replace that address with a different one.
If you have a Yahoo! program set as the default application for a particular action on your Windows 7 computer, you can change your default program settings and remove the default setting for that program. Click the "Start" button at the bottom right corner of the window, and then click "Default Programs." Click "Set Your Default Programs," and then click the program for which you want to remove the defaults. Click the program that you want to set as the default for that action, and then click "Set This Program As Default."
