How to Tell if iTunes Is on Manual

How to Tell if iTunes Is on Manual thumbnail
ITunes has the option to manually or automatically synch items to your device.

iTunes is used to play, view and organize items that can then be transferred to the iPod, iPad or iPhone. You can automatically synch items to your device anytime the device is connected to iTunes, or you can manually synch items, giving you greater control over what is and isn't synched, but also requiring more work on your part. After your device is connected to iTunes, you can check to see if iTunes is set to manual or automatic synch.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open iTunes on your computer.

    • 2

Connect the iPod, iPad or iPhone to the computer, using a USB cord.

    • 3

Click your device under the "Devices" list on the left side of iTunes.

    • 4

Click the "Summary" option located near the top of the page for your device.

    • 5

Look at the box next to "Manually manage music and videos," which is located in the "Options" list. If there is a checkmark in that box, then iTunes is set to manual.
