Use a webcam to post video on Facebook.

Upload home videos to your Facebook profile page for your friends and family to see. Facebook allows you to upload three different types of video: video taken on a video camera and uploaded to your computer; mobile video from your cell phone; and video recorded on a computer's webcam. Once your video is uploaded, tag everyone with a Facebook account featured in the video and then share the file with all your other Facebook friends.

      Record video on your video camera, cell phone or computer's webcam. If recording video on a video camera, upload the video to your computer using either QuickTime Movie or Windows Media Video. Save the video on your hard drive.

      Log on to your Facebook account. Type your email address and password; then click "Log In" to access your account.

      Click "Profile" on the top-right side of the screen, followed by "Photos," which is under your profile picture on the left side of the screen.

      Click the "Upload Video" button in the upper-right corner. A new window called "Create a New Video" will open.

      Select what type of video you want to upload. Select the "File Upload" tab to upload video already saved on your computer's hard drive. The "Mobile Video" tab is for video taken on your mobile phone. Once you click on the tab, a new window will open with an email address where you can email the video so it's uploaded directly to your profile page. The "Record Video" tab is for video recording straight from your computer using a webcam.

      Follow the on-screen directions to begin the uploading process. Once the upload is complete, you can watch the video on your profile page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Facebook supports several video file types, including mobile, AVI, Flash, MPEG-4, Matroska Format, MOD, MPEG, Nullsoft, TOD and DVD. All video files are stored in the "Photos" section on your profile page.

  • All video posted on Facebook must be shorter than 20 minutes and less than 1024 MB. The aspect ratio must be between 9 by 16 and 16 by 9.
