How to Cheat at The Sims 2: Regular Cheats

It's a challenge to take care of a single Sim, let alone a houseful of them. For those of us who have specific goals in mind for our Sims, meeting their mundane needs can be a bit of a nuisance. Although we always recommend playing the game without cheating first, if it really bugs you having your Sims do their business, then here are a few workarounds.

Things You’ll Need:

Basic Cheats

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+C to access the "cheat" window, then do one of the following:
2. Enter Motherlode, which gives you 50,000 Simoleans.
3. Enter Clear, which clears the cheat codes from the screen--but they remain in effect.
4. Enter Exit, which closes the "cheat" window.
5. Enter Expand, which expands or contracts the "cheat" window.
6. Enter Kaching, which gives you 1,000 Simoleans.
7. Enter Moveobjects (on or off), which allows you to move and delete normally unalterable objects.
8. Choose Slowmotion #: 0-8, 0=normal, 8=very slow.
9. Turn Aging off or on. This turns aging off or on.

Neighborhood Cheats

10. Use these cheats only in the neighborhood view.
11. Enter Deleteallcharacters. This removes every Sim from the neighborhood.
12. Enter Terraintype, desert or temperate, which switches your neighborhood terrain.

Odds and Ends

13. Use Free Bookcase: Buy a bookcase and have a Sim start to study. Interrupt the Sim, so it puts down the book, and then sell the bookcase. The book retains all the abilities of the bookcase and you get the money back.
14. Use Free Items: Buy an object and sell it the same day. No matter how many times it's been used, you will still get full price for it. Also, if your Sim is low on Simoleans, have it buy something, use it for a day and sell it again.
15. Use Free Pizza: Have your Sim order pizza. When the delivery person comes, DO NOT accept the pizza. Wait until the delivery driver drops it on the porch, then go out and eat it. It won't go bad and you can stack lots of pizzas on your porch.

Tips & Warnings

• The moveobjects cheat makes it possible for you to accidentally delete your Sims. Unlike in The Sims 1, Sims deleted in this way CANNOT be recovered.
• DO NOT DO STEP #2 UNLESS YOU REALLY REALLY WANT TO GET RID OF EVERYONE!
• If you use the pizza trick, make sure your garbage can isn't full before you try to clean up the pizza box. If your Sim has nowhere to put the garbage, he'll set the pizza back on the floor in a pile along with the pizza box. If you’ve got a neat-freak Sim, he'll keep trying to clean it up, creating more and more trash.
