How to Make a Snuggie for a Baby
A Snuggie, or sleeved blanket, is a clever combination of a blanket and a robe. It has all the snugness and comfort of a blanket as it is full length and does not gape open at the front, but with arms allowing you all of the movement of a robe. It is typically made from a soft fleecy material and is designed to keep you warm and cozy from head to toe when relaxing in the winter months.
Things You'll Need

1
Cut 15 inches from the top of the fabric which will be later used to make sleeves. Measure the approximate length of the baby you are making the sleeved blanket for from the neck to the toes and trim the remainder of the fabric to this length.

2
Mark holes for the baby's arms to which you will later attach the sleeves. Measure the baby's arm location prior to marking or approximate the location in the top third of the material. Draw two oval arm holes, with fabric chalk, that are at least 3 inches bigger in diameter than the baby's arms to allow the item to be roomy.

Cut the fabric that you put aside for the sleeves in half lengthwise. Fold the fabric in half again to make a tube-like shape. Using the sewing machine, sew along the edge to join the two ends into a contained sleeve. Turn over 1 inch at the bottom and sew all the way around to form a cuff. Repeat for the other sleeve. Ensure that the sleeves are the correct length and if not, trim to size.

4
Pin the sleeve all the way around the arm hole to hold it in place and carefully sew around the armhole on the inside of the sleeved blanket to attach the two pieces. The seams will appear on the inside; trim any unnecessary material. Repeat with the other sleeve.

5
Attach a small square of Velcro to both sides at the back at the neck to ensure the sleeved blanket does not slip off.

Tips & Warnings
Make your sleeved blanket a little too big for the baby; they grow so fast it makes more sense for them to grow into it and use it throughout a whole winter before you can pass it on to someone else.
