Instructions

    • 1

Allow the freshly made Rice Krispies treats to cool completely in the pan.

    • 2

Stir the canned or homemade frosting with a spoon to make it smooth and glossy.

    • 3

Scoop up bits of frosting with the spoon and dot them across the pan of Rice Krispies treats. Use enough to frost the top with at least 1/4 inch of frosting, or to the depth you prefer.

    • 4

Spread the dollops of frosting with the offset spatula until they completely cover the Rice Krispies treats and the frosting is evenly distributed.

Tips & Warnings

  • By dotting the frosting onto the top before spreading it, you can keep the thickness uniform. You may prefer simply to work from one side to the other instead, if you have a more practiced hand.

  • Add sprinkles into the Rice Krispies treats mixture as you prepare them, or add them to the top of your frosting for festive treats.

  • Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes from the pan of frosted treats. Thin Rice Krispies treats cut better than thick ones, so spread your mixture onto a cookie sheet rather than a deep pan.

  • Let the kids decorate the treats with chocolate shot, tinted sugar or small candies

  • Smooth off the frosted tops and then pipe on decorator frosting to make soccer balls, baseballs or other shapes. Some shapes offer the opportunity for kids to do a little creative decorating, such as Christmas trees, butterflies or Halloween Jack-o-Lanterns.
