How Do I Telnet to a Cisco MDS 9216i?

How Do I Telnet to a Cisco MDS 9216i? thumbnail
Network adminstrators can access and support Cisco switches from nearly any location on the planet using Telnet over the Internet.

Cisco MDS 9216i switches are specifically designed to support fiber channel SAN (Storage Area Networks) and also feature standard Cisco IOS (Internetwork Operating System) services such as telnet. Once telnet is enabled on a MDS 9216i, administration can be performed over the network rather than locally through a serial console port. Use Telnet to check status and change configurations remotely on a Cisco MDS 9216i.

Things You'll Need

  • Telnet credentials for the Cisco MDS 9216i switch obtained from the switch administrator
  • Privileged Exec password for the Cisco MDS 9216i switch obtained from the switch administrator
  • Cisco serial console cable included with the MDS 9216i switch
