Transferring TiVo files to your PC and replaying them is possible if your TiVo DVR has the TiVo ToGo Home Media feature in it. The Series2 or the Series2 DT DVRs come equipped with the service.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • TiVo Series2
  • Series2 DT DVR or Toshiba/Pioneer DVRs with integrated DVD (and Plus Service)

Step1
Ensure that you have either Series2 or Series2 DT DVR for your TiVo.
Step2
Buy (or upgrade to) TiVo Desktop Plus to make Toshiba or Pioneer DVRs with integrated DVD TiVo ToGo compatible.
Step3
Install TiVo Desktop 2.0 (or higher) on your PC to use the TiVoToGo feature of your TiVo DVR.
Step4
Install the latest version of TiVo software on your DVR.
Step5
Log in to Manage My Account (MMA) at TiVo (see link below) and click DVR Preferences on the left navigation bar.
Step6
Make sure there is a checkmark in the Allow Transfers column next to each DVR from which you would like to transfer programming.

Tips & Warnings

  • TiVo ToGo is not compatible with Series1 DVRs. And, Toshiba or Pioneer DVRs with integrated DVD must have TiVo Plus Service to use the TiVo ToGo feature.
