    Find information about credit card rate plans and terms on the Internet or personal finance magazines and newspapers.

  2. Step 2

    Fill out the paper application for credit card of your choice, if you do not want to apply online. Ensure that the application is endorsed by the credit card company and is an original document not photocopied.

  3. Step 3

    Apply over the phone by calling up the toll free number provided by the credit card company of your choice and follow the wonderful automated instructions that you will hear. This number can be found online, through the yellow pages, and mail outs from the companies themselves. when you call the number.

  4. Step 4

    Go online and search for the different credit card options offered by different banks, financial institutions and stores. Applying online is usually the fastest, easiest and most preferred method of credit card application.

  5. Step 5

    Compare the different features such as whether there are fixed or fluctuating interest rates, APR, credit limits, interest free days, penalties, grace periods, cash advances and balance transfers and if there are any other implied costs.

  6. Step 6

    Check for preconditions to applying such as the need for disclosing your driver's license or social security numbers, date of birth and proof of residence. There is usually no need to have a bank account in a specific bank or maintain any minimum account balance.

  7. Step 7

    Fill out the details double checking all the information included, read the privacy statement and click the appropriate application buttons.
