Throughout history rubies have represented royalty in many different countries, according to the International Colored Gemstone Association.   • Liquid soap
  • Small bowl
  • Jewelry brush

Instructions

      Remove the ruby if it is in a jewelry setting, if possible.

      Fill a small bowl with warm, soapy water.

      Place the ruby in the water and let it soak for 10 minutes.

      Lift the ruby from the water and gently scrub it with a soft jewelry brush to remove any dirt or residue that hasn't come off.

      Rinse the ruby under warm water to rinse off soap.

      Dry thoroughly in with a soft towel.

      Rub the ruby with a silk cloth to make it shine. Replace the ruby back into its setting if you removed it.

  • Use a soft, fine makeup brush to scrub the ruby if you don't have a jewelry brush.
