How to Decorate a Monster Mask
Decorating a monster mask can be a creative project for children to enjoy at Halloween or as an activity for a monster-themed birthday party. It can make a great rainy-day activity as well, and can help to pass the time if kids are stuck indoors for any reason. You can also turn the decorating process into a fun craft session for the whole family and let everyone complete a mask.

1
Open the paper bag and place it over your child's head, making sure it will fit. A regular grocery bag usually is the best option. Once you have determined the size, take the bag off before you begin cutting.

2
Cut an arch-shaped hole on each side of the bag to form the arm holes. Start cutting at the top of the bag, which is actually the bottom of the monster mask, to the top of the child's shoulder.

Place the bag back on the child to make sure the arm holes are in the right location. Using a marker, draw circles where the child's eyes, nose and mouth are. Remove the bag and cut out the holes out by carefully pushing the point of the scissors through each. When you are finished, wad up the bag to make the monster face appear wrinkled, being careful not to rip any of the holes.

4
Draw large lips, scary-looking eyebrows and large jagged scars on the construction paper. Cut out the drawings and use glue to attach these to the bag. Use red markers to draw streaks of blood on the mask or brown markers to make warts.
-
5
Glue black and green yarn to the top of the bag to make the monster's hair. You also could purchase a monster wig at the local costume shop and glue it on the top of the bag.

Tips & Warnings
Always be sure the holes you have cut allow plenty of air so the child can breath with the mask on.
